Hestercombe Gardens Visit

Formal Gardens
Madame President in the Witches House

Umbrellas needed!
17 ladies travelled to Hestercombe Gardens near Taunton on Saturday 4th August. Originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll and the architect Edwin Lutyuns, these Edwardian gardens have been  restored to their original glory during the  past 2 decades and further restoration on the house is also planned . We had a rather wet and soggy guided tour through  woodland landscape gardens complete with Witches Hut and waterfall, but also the Victorian planted garden  and formal terraced gardens with rills and pergolas. Despite the sometimes heavy rain the  tour was interesting and most of us enjoyed lunch and shopping in the plant shop afterwards.
