A small group met this Tuesday and discussed Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. This is the story of Indian twins born and brought up in Ethiopia just after WW2. An engrossing well written tale of family, love, identity, politics and medicine mainly from the viewpoint of the twin boys. We all agreed that we loved this book, even if it took a while to get into, and it was a great story with good characterisation. Highly recommended.
The themes of the book then led on to a varied and lively discussion of womens rights, Obama and the US health care system, text speak, grammar, racism and the all round appeal of the young tennis player Feliciano Lopez! .......as good WI members we also did discuss jam ...!
Join us at our next meeting Tuesday 9th July 7.30 at WSM Conservative Club, Bill Holley Room
